Peripheral Products
For More Advanced Interfaces
Creating seamless connections between man and machine
Our Peripheral Products Division develops devices that serve as interfaces between people and the equipment they use. This division develops high-performance input devices such as GlidePoint™ touchpads, which offer ultimate ease of operation, as well as keyboards for laptop PCs and touch sensors. It also develops display-related devices such as highly transparent and responsive touchpanels, and high-image-quality output devices such as compact photo printers and thermal printers.
Developing Customizable Software
The Peripheral Products Division is accumulating IC design technology and software technology that will allow us to develop input devices tailored to customer needs. For our GlidePoint™ touchpads, the division is developing digital-analog integrated ASICs to boost reliability and reduce power consumption, and undertaking complete in-house development of a driver that will permit customization of language and functions. This original driver will allow the touchpad to serve as a virtual scroll bar and button, giving users easy, convenient fingertip operation.
Capacitance sensing technology
For advanced operation of devices

Touch Motion™ Sensor
Good input devices improve operating ease and operator comfort. The Peripheral Products Division has used its core capacitance sensing technology, which senses changes in capacitance caused by proximity of the operator's fingers, to develop advanced new interfaces for a variety of devices. Among the company's latest developments are the Alps Electric's Glide Sensor™ andTouch Motion™ Sensor, which bring improved operability to mobile phones and car navigation systems.
