The Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, robots, autonomous driving…the world already has technologies to support Society 5.0 – the concept of balancing economic development with resolution of social issues. But to resolve all the different issues, such as aging populations and dropping birthrates, declining populations in provincial areas, and wealth and information literacy gaps, still further innovation is needed. There are also limits to what humans are capable of, while circumstances, too, sometimes restrict people in their work and their spheres of activity. This means that no matter how advanced the technology or service, if it is too complicated or cumbersome, it is unlikely to catch on.

User-friendly interfaces and sensors will increasingly be the key to realizing services that let everyone lead comfortable, quality lifestyles full of vitality regardless of individual capabilities and environments. Alps Alpine has the potential to contribute to solutions through its business as we aim to be an Innovative T-Shaped Company that uses both hardware and software technology to create comfort/emotion, safety and environmental value. In the automotive industry, in particular, software is of growing importance as software-defined vehicle architecture evolves. We therefore look to combine our core competences with software, allowing us to adapt to the times and accelerate growth.

It has been a chaotic few years for the world economy and there are bound to be other unforeseen social issues waiting around the corner.
