The Importance of Ongoing Activity

Welfare Activities - Local Facility Visits

Holding by its belief that a corporation should be responsible for contributing into its local community, Alps Electric is also involved in various community-based activities.

Since 1983, the Mechatronic Devices and Automotive Products Division branches of the employee-representing Alps Workers Association (both of Osaki City, Miyagi Prefecture), have been visiting a local vocational training facility used by individuals with disabilities.

Usually around 35 employees volunteer to visit the facility to hold magic shows, perform music, and exhibit the traditional tea ceremony among other activities together with facility users. Some participant employees have given comments about the visits such as:
“I feel as if we are all sharing our cheer with one another when we all talk and sing together.”
“I was especially glad I went when people asked me to come again the following year.”
“I’ve been 3 times now so I know a lot of faces, which helps me to enjoy the time without having to be nervous. The activities have made me realize that the more you put into volunteer work, the more you get out of it.”

In appreciation of the visits, the Alps Workers Association received a community contribution award from Miyagi Prefecture, presented on December 12, 2007, by the vocational facility’s General Affairs Manager.

Alps Electric will continue to hold precious the small and ongoing activities conducted by its employees.
