Employees plant a grass ground for the community

Environment & Community - A New Grass Sports Ground

Employees at the Communication Devices Division’s Soma Plant (Soma City, Fukushima Prefecture) have replanted their sports ground with grass, which is expected to be fully grown and complete by the end of July. The ground had originally a sandy surface, which sometimes blew over to buildings nearby with the wind, so the Plant decided to sow the approximate 10,000m² ground with grass also as part of its efforts in “greening” its premises. Around 150 employees volunteered to plant the grass after work on April 23, under the direction of a local subcontractor.

The grass should be firmly rooted by the end of July, when in addition to being used by employees for sports and recreation events, it will also be made available for the public to utilize.

The Soma Plant is currently preparing for the local summer festival, which is to be held on the ground on August 2, where it hopes the local community can enjoy the new and fresh green grass.

As a corporate citizen, Alps Electric will continue to actively communicate with local communities and strive to build strong relationships through events unique to each locality.
