Alps Electric participated in the Automotive Engineering Exposition held May 23-25, 2018, at Pacifico Yokohama.
Presented this year in the Alps booth were communication modules, sensors and other core technologies contributing to CASE domains (Connected, Autonomous, Shared & Services, Electric) along with solution proposals.

Product Highlights

V2X (Vehicle to X) Communication Modules

Alps was the first in the world to mass-produce a V2X Module enabling ITS Connect, a V2X service employing intelligent transportation systems. We have participated in a variety of demonstration tests in the United States, where moves are underway to make V2X functionality mandatory, and our development continues.
Coreless Current Sensor for Automotive Use

Use of a high-sensitivity magnetic element makes it possible to measure current without a magnetic core. Alps did just that to successfully develop a compact, lightweight sensor capable of measuring the large currents essential for electric vehicles.
*A key device contributing to vehicle weight reductions and smaller powertrains. Around 1/3 the weight of a Hall sensor in the 900A range.
• Magnetic Angle Sensor

An Alps-developed high-sensitivity magnetic element is employed, enabling sensing precision to within ±0.1° with weak to strong magnetic fields. The sensor provides design freedom and a long life due to high heat resistance and high magnetic stability. At the venue, five demo kits introduced easy-to-use Alps magnetic sensors, which allow redundancy design with a single package.


Capacitive Input Device for Automotive Use

A highly sensitive capacitive sensor, an Alps-developed algorithm and original ASIC design enable accurate input without actually making direct contact with the touch panel, delivering a comfortable user experience.
Zero Border Touch Panel + HAPTIC™ Reactor

A touch panel with no border is realized using original micropatterning technology. Ideal for head-up displays (HUD) as vision is less likely to be blocked.
• HAPTIC™ Reactor

Two resonance points mean touch sensations can be felt from a wide range of frequencies. Even complex waveforms can be realistically recreated.
• GNSS Module

Supports standards from a number of regions with a single package. A dead reckoning feature enables high-performance positioning.
• Magnetic Encoder

An original structure enables a six times higher resolution than normal without changing the number of magnet poles. Variable magnetization pitch, too, means no board layout changes are required with a change of magnet.
Aspherical Glass Lens/Hybrid Lens

Alps boasts more than 27 years of experience in the lens market. Here we introduced a highly reliable aspherical glass lens adapted for automotive electronics.
• Spring Contact

A new form of connector developed using Alps' precision stamping technology. It helps to achieve downsizing, simplify production processes and improve reliability.
