Munich, Germany, June 08, 2022 – Alps Alpine Europe GmbH, one of the world’s largest developers and manufacturers of electromechanical devices, celebrate the supply of 1 million Lykaner® long-lifetime asset trackers with Heliot Group, Sigfox 0G Operator in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Slovenia, and UnaBiz, a major IoT service provider and new owner of the Sigfox 0G technology.

The announcement marks the largest LPWAN deployment of asset trackers to date in Europe with major companies such as Deutsche Post DHL Group, the global logistics company, different automakers and mobility providers in France, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and many more European countries.

Since the successful start of deployment of the asset tracker in the region, the Alps Alpine team in Germany and Ireland has engaged in R&D to further complete the portfolio of 15 different tracker variants with up to 12 years of battery life. Today, the company confirms its plan to achieve the next milestone of producing another 2.6 million trackers based on procurement of material already ordered one year ago to be able to continue shipping even under the current component shortage situation.

Lars Landewee, Senior Vice President Operations for the Parcel Sorting Centres with Deutsche Post DHL confirms that “The Alps Alpine – Sigfox tracking Solutions really bring us to the next level of asset tracking. It not only gives us the transparency on the location of the assets, it also enables us to better predict asset flows. We are really looking forward to making even more out of the now established basis.”

“The COVID-19 pandemic has created unprecedented stress but also opportunities for the transformation in the logistics and supply chain industry. As the demands for asset management continue to increase in the region, we are prepared to support our customers with our best in class asset tracking management solutions to provide such values as visibility in everyday operation and lift the monetary potential which is dormant in every process. Especially in times of crises companies are required to optimize their operation for higher productivity and higher levels of process automation” says Sascha Kunzmann, heading up the Engineering Division of Alps Alpine Europe.

Henri Bong, co-founder and co-CEO of UnaBiz commented, “UnaBiz is pleased to be a part of this amazing milestone and scaling story that demonstrates Sigfox 0G technology’s capabilities in asset tracking use cases. As a custom-designed IoT solution provider ourselves, we have experienced first-hand the challenges of massive deployment. In order to deliver success to our end customers, we will continue to support and to work closely with all Sigfox 0G Operators and solution providers to accelerate their go-to-market. We believe that an open and collaborative ecosystem is key to enabling massive IoT.”

“Logistics? Speed, sweat and wear. This industrial Alps Alpine tracker does its silent work a million-times out there every day. With it, the hard world of logistics can do more. With more speed, less sweat, less wear. Together with Alps Alpine asset tracking solutions, UnaBiz 0G technology and our nationwide 0G service coverage it is reality.” said Thomas Scheibel, CEO of Heliot Europe.
