Stakeholder Engagement

Seeking to maintain the trust of shareholders, investors, business partners, employees, communities, and a wide range of other stakeholders, Alps Alpine takes an earnest approach toward incorporating stakeholder feedback through various opportunities for communication. In this manner, we seek to shape our management activities based on the expectations and desires of diverse stakeholders in order to continue creating value and build trusting relationships.

Customers We share information with customers throughout all stages of our business, beginning with product development, to address customer needs as we aspire to provide viable solutions for all areas of our broad business domain. Shareholders and Investors Proactive, two-way communication is practiced with institutional investors and private shareholders. Information on Alps Alpine’s sustainability activities is shared through regular general meetings of shareholders and financial results briefings and, recently, through shareholder relations meetings. Input gathered through such activities is communicated to management to be reflected in management activities. We also use our corporate website and other tools to conduct prescient information disclosure in order to provide accurate information to as many people as possible in a timely manner.

Business Partners Alps Alpine maintains a stance of treating business partners with fairness, impartiality, and integrity and building relationships founded on trust fostered through legal compliance and social ethics. We are also committed to ensuring safety and protecting the environment, and we work together with business partners to make contributions to the realization of a sustainable society across the supply chain. Communities The Company has defined its policy of contributing to society through coexistence with society and local communities, the cultivation of manufacturing human resources, preservation of the environment, and the resolution of social issues. Communication with communities is practiced in regard to our activities in these areas. Through our community outreach activities, we strive to foster understanding regarding our business and initiatives and build trusting relations with communities.

Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)

Alps Alpine declared its support for the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) in September 2020. By analyzing climate-related risks and opportunities and applying the findings to business strategy, Alps Alpine seeks to achieve sustainable growth and respond appropriately to risks.

Alps Alpine has signed up to RE100, the global corporate renewable energy initiative bringing together businesses committed to use of 100% renewable electricity.
Alps Alpine's goal is to replace all electricity we use in our business activities with renewable energy by 2030.

Japan Climate Leaders' Partnership (JCLP)

The Japan Climate Leaders' Partnership (JCLP) is a coalition of diverse businesses taking proactive action on climate change based on a shared sense of urgency. Alps Alpine joined the group in 2022. We look to tap the knowledge of other JCLP members to accelerate our own decarbonization efforts, while also actively participating in the group’s activities.

Alps Alpine is a member of JEITA and currently serves on the Executive Board. We advance activities through participation in a number of study groups and committees, including the Environmental Steering Board, the CSR Committee, the Responsible Minerals Trade Working Group, the Study Group on the Electronic Components Industry for Carbon Neutrality.

JAPIA advances efforts in a number of areas, including carbon neutrality and reduction of CO2 emissions. As a JAPIA member, Alps Alpine keeps step with the industry, working toward attainment of industry goals by reducing CO2 emissions and ensuring compliance with chemical substance controls.

External Recognition

In recent years, an increasingly large amount of attention has been directed toward ESG investment, or the practice of selecting investment targets based on evaluations of both financial information as well as a company’s efforts in the areas of the environment, human rights, and corporate governance. Alps Alpine has been included in six investment indexes adopted by GPIF, the world’s largest public pension fund.

FTSE4Good Index Series

The FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices. FTSE4Good indices are used widely by market participants when creating or assessing sustainable investment products and other financial products. Alps Alpine was first selected as a constituent in fiscal 2021.

FTSE Blossom Japan Index

Alps Alpine was selected for inclusion for the third year in a row. The FTSE Blossom Japan Index is an index designed by FTSE Russell to measure the performance of Japanese companies that demonstrate strong environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. The index is widely used to create and assess ESG investment funds and other financial products.

Alps Alpine has been selected as a constituent of the Morningstar Japan ex-REIT Gender Diversity Tilt Index, an ESG index used by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) since 2023. Alps Alpine was included in Group 1, the top of five groups ranked according to their gender equality score.

Alps Alpine was selected for the S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index, an index with a TOPIX universe that weighs constituent companies based on the disclosure of environmental information and carbon-efficiency levels.

Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organization

For the fourth year in a row, starting in 2020, Alps Alpine has been recognized as an outstanding enterprise engaging in efforts for health and productivity management within the large enterprise category of the Certified Health & Productivity Management Organization Recognition Program run by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Nippon Kenko Kaigi.
The program recognizes large enterprises, small and medium-sized enterprises, and other organizations making outstanding efforts in health and productivity management in line with health-related challenges in communities or health-conscious activities led by the Nippon Kenko Kaigi.
